Cleaning Your Cast Iron
Welcome to Common Table's March Newsletter!
“Love is patient; love is kind… love rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” - 1 Corinthians 13
As the California cells in me start to feel the stirrings of spring, my Montana cells remind me that patience is what’s needed—Mother's Day is the magic date for planting, ensuring our efforts aren't killed by frost. And what better way to celebrate Mother's Day than with the gift of togetherness in the garden? Please put your hands in the dirt with me. Last year on Mother’s Day the whole family got together to plant raspberries.
God’s wonders never cease to completely amaze me, those raspberry plants have been frozen in the ground for months. What a wonder that when spring arrives to us, they will sprout and grow into healthy plants, bearing beautiful raspberries this summer.
Isn't it awe-inspiring how nature works its wonders? Reminding us of the beauty and resilience in the cycle of the seasons.Observing this in nature has taught me a valuable life lesson: sometimes things may appear to be dead or frozen, but there is still life within. It's a reminder not to give up hope, whether it's in a marriage, a creative project, or a garden.
All things flourish when love is present, which is why I chose this quote to go with today’s newsletter. Love can be all encompassing and deals with all things, which we can both freely give and freely receive, should we simply choose to.
Just as spring breathes new life into the seemingly lifeless earth, there is always potential for growth and renewal in every aspect of our lives, when we choose to tap into the life and love within.
I’m grateful to each of you for being part of our Common Table community. Our dream is to cultivate a virtual village, united by our love for food, friendship, and hospitality. Email them to me, and we'll spotlight them in future newsletters, spreading the joy of good food and camaraderie.
The attached video in this newsletter, is a question our friend Kurt asked, and I’ve been asked at least a dozen times. I’m pretty sure wars have been fought over this controversial question:
How to clean and care for a cast iron pan?
My husband reminded me that he once overheard me answering this question: “Depends on who your grandmother is! ”. Check out the short video if you’re interested in my view on this hot topic.
Wishing you all a month filled with growth, connection, and the warmth of shared moments around the table.
With love and gratitude,
~Love Linda
